Concrete Tanks

The design life of a concrete tank is 60 years, as opposed to 25 years for a steel tank. Designed to British Standards 8007 and 8110, the concrete formwork system offers the advantages of easy construction with efficient site programmes

The system consists of an inner and outer wall of shuttering pans that build up in diameter and height to create a mould. The reinforcing mesh that is required is fixed between the shutter walls, with the concrete being poured into the mould. As and when applicable, the shutters are then stripped away when the concrete has achieved the correct strength.

Our formwork systems allow us to target a wide range of tank sizes, in both diameter and height. Using our in-house installation crews to build the tanks, we can ensure a fast track approach to each project, giving our clients benefits on contract programmes.

Our design principals offer the choice of std 0.2mm design, to post tensioning using the galglass Post Tensioning System (GPTS) which virtually guarantees a crack free structure. With our own Civil Design Department, managed by a chartered civil engineer, we offer solid advice on the civils approach. This often allows us to bring savings through design development to a project, whilst ensuring product performance is maintained.

To compliment the wall formwork, we also design and construct structural tank bases and concrete roofs, allowing our clients to place one order for all the work.
